Senate Agenda

BITS Pilani is synonymous with the brightest minds from across the country, and acknowledging the extreme importance given to academics in the institution, the CSA of BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus has aimed major, as well as minor, changes in the way the Academic Associations (also referred to as the Acad Assocs) work.

The Senate, which had been created with the aim to make full use of the Acad Assocs, was able to do little more than making t-shirts for each of the departments till last year.

The first semester of the academic year of 2014-2015, however, saw a much-needed change in the way things work. From regular updates regarding CDCs, electives and summer internships by each Department to Google Docs telling the students what to do after their first year- the Senate has started off the year well. Add to that the lectures organised by the Physics association, workshops by MESA, and other competitions such as the Integration Bee by Math Assoc, and we have a truly commendable effort.

To find out more, DoJMA spoke to Anmol Shrivastava, President.

He says that this semester, the Senate plans to launch the final products of all that they worked on last semester.

The first of those products is a comprehensive website featuring a wiki and a blog. This website will contain information on all that’s going on in campus, including details about ongoing projects, academic events, campus startups and agendas of each association. This, as they say, will modify the way students get information about the campus.

The senate will also fund students’ technical projects to help kickstart them into existence. Students can have their projects substantiated to avail the funding.

There will also be an increase in the number of academic events like Department Days and the senate will try and bring more eminent figures to the campus for guest lectures.

Lastly, to celebrate perennial achievements of BITSians, the senate shall host a felicitation ceremony where the students’ triumphs will be recognized and awarded.
